Dude hahah this is like a dream come true…
Traumah, thanks for opening up about drums. I’ve come to find out just in the last year that Drums are the DNA of your sound as a producer. I’ve spent years studying music, have a degree in Jazz Studies, and have been a college professor in Music. So, I thought chord progressions and knowing music theory was everything. Man, was i WRONG !! I had that rude awakening once I started making submissions to Major Label Artists. They want heavy knocking drums that force you to react/move. After not making the cut on a few projects that went on to be grammy nominated last year. I went on a quest for drums and how to get the heavy thump that you need to reach the masses and that’s when I stumbled onto your site. Just wanted to say thanks! I now have the confidence that my tracks can stand up next to whoever else is making submissions along side of me after having found the understanding that DRUMS ARE EVERYTHING!
Nice interview!
I’ve been an engineer/producer since the mid 80′s 13yrs old in New Orleans. I know the outboard gear, consoles and vst fx(or the combination) to get the phat sounds of Traumah’s drum libraries. I also know lots of people with the gear and have no clue how to use them.
I also know what Traumah is using, but i won’t tell.
My thing is why buy vintage or new NEVE, API, Avalon, Trident, TubeTech,SSL, Focusrite etc. costing $2,500 to $200,000 plus years training and an acoustic treated room and possibly an engineer.
Traumah has done the work for you with his years of experience. I consider him a Master Drum and Percussion Sample engineer. All you have to do is buy Traumah Drum Kits, load them in your software or hardware, and bang out Fire Phat Beats.
One!!!
Def the kits I go to when I need something to KNOCK. Stacking these drums further with themselves creates some amazing sounds.
I still use the MPC that shit bangs… especially with traumah drums!
HI WHAT DRUM KIT DO U RECOMMEND SOUNDS MORE LIKE DR DRE,I WOULD LIKE TO BUY
Yo fam,
